A government team without a project

Almost half a year after the municipal elections, and the formation of the new government, we are faced with great uncertainty about priorities, about how the city's governance is intended to be tackled, and what its city project is.

Or maybe not so uncertain. We do see a great concern to communicate things, proposals that, in some cases, could be described as populist, and decisions that call into question or cancel what we did in the previous government, making opposition from the government.

The resignation of a subsidy of 860,000 euros to rehabilitate the Masia de la Salut and make an environmental interpretation center there, or the resistance to speed up the process for the construction of a new Cap/CUAP on the Rambla, are examples of this oppositional mentality.

The project to install an ice rink for Christmas, with a cost of 60,000 euros plus consumption and other expenses, is also a good example of a populist initiative, comparable to the Christmas megalomania of mayors such as Vigo or Badalona. Initiatives that are not linked to the context of climate change and the need to educate on sustainability values.

These are some examples of erratic and unplanned policies, to which we can add: the reduction of hours of attention to the Information and Attention Service for Women, or the extensions and doubts that are beginning to project on the transfer of the Police National and the location in place of equipment aimed at women.

Even in an issue that seemed to be prioritized by the new government team, such as the cleaning of the city and, above all, the collection of furniture, you can see how it has not improved, but has worsened in some respect, despite the propaganda campaigns they have done.

In addition, we are perceiving a worrying degree of disorganization in the functioning of the City Council, with the lack of management and organizational references, an issue that the technical staff and all workers are suffering from.

This disorientation can also be seen in the field of economic decisions, in a context of serious financial situation in the majority of City Councils, so much so that the Diputació de Barcelona (with PSC, ECP and ERC government) has created an extraordinary fund for to help square the numbers of all the municipalities in the province, from which Sant Feliu will receive six hundred thousand euros, the government team talks about the bad situation left by the previous team, but they give up resources, they unnecessary extraordinary expenses and apply an update of taxes and fees much lower than the rest of the municipalities (maybe we are not so bad?)

From SFECP, however, we will continue working from the proposal, with a clear city project and defending all those proposals that are important for citizens, and the governance and city model we have built over the years.
