If we want Sant Feliu de Llobregat to be a lively, dynamic and cohesive city, it needs to become a city that boosts economic activity. At the City Council meeting last October, the municipal government team presented a proposal for tax ordinances for the year 2023 which meant a strong increase in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) in commerce, parking lots and warehouses. We are talking about an increase that in hundreds of cases was 8.5%, but in some cases it could be closer to 40%. An increase in fiscal pressure that we identified as a threat to all those enterprising people who, with a lot of effort and setbacks, raise the shutters every day. Faced with this scenario, the refusal of our municipal group to support the approval of the tax ordinances led to a negotiation process where Tots Som Sant Feliu managed to start the commitment to stop the increase in the IBI commercial, parking lots and warehouses proposed by the municipal government.
Another anomaly of last October's City Council Plenary is that the municipal government team did not present a proposal for the City Council's General Budget for the year 2023, as has not happened in the Municipal Plenary of this November. This fact tells us that we will start the year 2023 with an extended Budget. In a few words, the City Council has already decided that it will collect from the public, but we will start the year without knowing what the resources will be used for. In a year that looks to be difficult and with limited municipal resources, it is more necessary than ever that the city government face the situation, that it does not decline its responsibilities and that it presents a Budget proposal as soon as possible. In times of adversity, anticipation in solving problems is a key factor. At these moments is when you need to act with more responsibility. The attitude of Tots Som Sant Feliu, as it has always been, will be an outstretched hand to reach an agreement and to obtain the best Budget that Sant Feliu needs so much.
